Happy Halloween!

And here's a clue to who I'm supposed to be.

That's the retro version anyway.

This is the nerd version.

Take your pick.

Retro Y'all (Halloween Edition)

Sometimes, you gotta go with the classics!

Linus rolling with the pumpkin always makes me giggle.

And of course:

If you watch closely while they're all at the door, you can see the rocks going into poor Charlie Brown's bag.

Retro Y'all! Halloween Edition

I know you all are probably expecting this one today, but, since I like to avoid the obvious choices, I give you this instead:

Happy Halloween Everyone!  May all your ghouls and goblins be friendly ones!

Monday Rambles

I'm having a problem of skeleton indecency at my booth.

Really?
Anyone know what I can do about it?  I guess this is to be expected when you're working with folks who walk around with everything hanging out like they do.  Or at least it would be hanging out if it were still there.  Or something.

Also, there may be a headless goose wandering around this Halloween.

Beware!
I guess it's about time for the Country Crafts Zombie Apocalypse to happen.  FLEE!

Walnuts are falling in our back yard, so I guess that means it's fall.  Thing is, we've been in this house for 15 years now, and I never noticed that we had a walnut tree before.  In fact, I would almost swear that we never, ever had walnuts before!  Is this normal?

Another thing I love about this time of year is going through the stores and looking at all the seasonal merchandise--Halloween right now and the bits of Christmas that are trickling in.  Seeing all this fills me with happy thoughts about scooping some of that crap up when it's 75% off  for the booth next year.  Yes, I stalk the holiday merchandise!  Essentially, I case the joint, shamelessly.

So, I had a yard sale on Saturday.  I brought some stuff home from the booth (mainly that damn glass), grabbed my tables off Sorrow Mountain, and four boxes of books off the Hillock, then set to work in the shed--aka Sorrow Mountain, the Backyard Edition.

Except for those banana boxes and a couple of large items, this is all household stuff that we don't use/need/want.  I dug through about a third of it and ended up with enough for a yard sale.  Along the way I found the last of my mother's stuff.  (I have said this about four times now.)  It was all her kitchen/household/tools and such that we don't need because we have all of them already.  It went into the sale, and all of it sold!

Speaking of the banana boxes, when we loaded them in after Dixie closed, there were 50 of them.  Last week, it was down to 24.  I'm planning on taking 10 of them next week, which will have me down to 14.  I think by the end of the year, all those babies will be gone!  Woo hoo!

I also found about six boxes of old papers that need to be sorted and probably recycled.  That's this week's project.  Since I have treatment tomorrow, I want something I can work on while I sit down, and this will fit the bill nicely.

I also ended up making a couple of boxes of booth bound stuff from the shed, so pricing that is on this week's agenda as well.

Keith came up with the bright idea of setting up a tent in the back yard, so I could just put stuff in it when I got it ready for the sale. That way I didn't have to re-clutter the shed and I could set up on Saturday without even having to open the shed.  It worked wonderfully.

Peeking in through the opening
Come Saturday, way too early in the morning, I threw it all on the sidewalk in back of the house, people came and bought it, they gave me money, and I got rid of it.  The end.

Crappy cell phone pic alert!

I was in serious "Get this shit out of here mode" so stuff was way cheap.  And it sold. And it sold.  And it sold. And it sold.

In the end, almost everything sold, except for the books, which were hardly touched.  They are probably off to Half Price Book this week.  I pulled a small stack for the booth, but I already have a bunch waiting to go in the booth, so I don't want to keep too many.  I have a couple of vintage leather jackets that didn't sell, so they're going to the second hand place down the street this week.  Purge, baby, purge!

The damn glass that was left went to the curb with a "Free" sign after the sale.  It was gone by Sunday morning.  That was my offering to the junk gods for success at next month's junk set out.  Ritual is important, you know.  All in all, I was a happy, if tired, camper Saturday evening.  I think I ran that steroid completely out!

As always, the fun part is the people.  There was the book scanner who showed up over an hour before opening time.  I ran him off, politely of course.  I didn't even have the books out and I was not about to let him dig through the boxes.  Scanners around here are pretty notorious for bad behavior and leaving messes.  I have no patience for that.  It occurs to me that I may have jinxed my book sales somehow by doing that, but I would do it again regardless.  Scanners never buy more than two or three books anyway.

Then there was the scrapper who pulled up in a truck full of junk--bed frames and the lot--and said:  "You selling that stuff or giving it away?"  I'm not kidding!  I said: "It's a yard sale."  He grunted (really!) at me and drove off.  I didn't even have any scrappable stuff.  Why me?  Sometimes, I feel like I must not be living right.

A younger, hippie type dude came up late in the afternoon and asked:  "Do you have any books on, like, shamanism and stuff?"  I was kind of tickled to tell him that I did!  And he bought them!  Pays to be a weirdo I guess.

After he paid, he saw the tent in the yard and got all excited.  "Dude!  I feel you!  I camp out in my back yard all the time.  I got my tent fixed up all cool inside."  I didn't have the heart to tell him that it was only up to hold yard sale stuff.

Then there was the construction worker who bought the daintiest glass stuff I had.  "I just love knick knacks."  And the mother/daughter duo who bought a ton of stuff. made everybody smile because they were so nice, gave me more money than I was asking for because they thought everything was too cheap, and rearranged my tables as they went to make things prettier so I would sell more.  I tried to get them to stay.

Overall, it was a lot of fun.  It sent much better than it had a right to, considering I half-assed the entire thing.  I had decided I wanted to do a sale, then kept losing enthusiasm bit by bit as it got closer.  You can see in the pics that I didn't even sweep the damn sidewalk. Half-assed, I tell you!  Hell, I didn't even put the Craigslist ad up until the morning of the sale.

Look what I found:

It's old, heavy as hell, and it needs a decent top and a new back panel, but I think some project minded person is going to love it.  It's the epitome of something with "great bones."  All the file drawer hardware is still inside.  I saw it on the curb from the bus on Tuesday, but obviously couldn't get to it then. It was still there on Wednesday, when we were headed to my scan.  Incredibly, it was still there Wednesday evening, so I nabbed it.

I get my scan results on Tuesday, so I'll let you know.  I'm going to tell the docs I'm tired of getting scanned and ask to be faxed next time.  Just to mix things up a bit.  Keith has to go out of town for a family thing that just came up, so me and Chiquito are solo for a few days.  I can't go because of my treatment.

Booth sales were crazy wild over the weekend!  I did super well selling nothing but smalls.  That makes for a long-ass email report, let me tell you!  In fact, I haven't moved a stick of furniture in a couple of weeks.  This is such a crazy business.  Earlier in the week, I had spent three days working the booth, so, of course, for those three days my sales were off quite bit.  That always seems to happen, for some reason.  My daily average was starting to lag a bit much for my taste, so the weekend upswing was welcome news.  I'll probably have a lot to tidy up today.

The Halloween stuff is really on fire now.  A lot has sold, but there's still plenty left to sell.  I'm going to have to remember to get it out earlier in the future.  The fall stuff seems to have stalled and it just sitting there.  I'm going to try to spruce it up today.

Speaking of today, I'd better get moving.

Let's get SPOOKY!

I usually don't get my Halloween stuff out until September 15 or so, but this year I did it at the beginning of the month.  It sat there for a couple of days, then started selling really nicely--several pieces a day in fact.

On Monday, I had to completely redo the area to fill in the holes and gaps.  I used all my reserve stuff in the process, so everything is out now.  I also managed to remember to get pics.

This is my favorite shelf. So many happy skulls and pumpkins!

I'm no great display talent, but I'm happy with it.  I kind of went overboard hanging things on the sides of the shelves and did not place and space my hooks in anything resembling a reasonable fashion.  Still, I like it.

There are a few things tucked into shelves (like three Halloween wreaths) that need to be more fully on display, but that problem should work itself out when a few more things sell.  I usually have a 75-85% sell through on my Halloween each year.  I'm hoping with my earlier start, I may go higher than that.

Since we're looking at pics, this is my fall display.  It's small because I never do get much fall stuff.  Historically, it doesn't sell that great for me.  It's on a little bit of a roll this year, though.  We'll see.

Hope that you didn't find my little spooky tour to be too hair-raising!

Happiness is.....

...Vintage Blow Molds!

Monday on the way to the booth, there was a traffic kerfuffle that resulted in my missing my connecting bus.  Since I had about an hour wait until the next one, decided to take a three block stroll down the street to my favorite thrift, which I had not visited in a while.

These beauties were waiting for me when I walked in.

Empire, circa 1969.  I never, ever find vintage Halloween stuff, so I strolled back to my bus stop as one very happy camper!

Monday Rambles

Happy Labor Day Everyone!  I hope everyone has had a safe and happy holiday weekend.  The last blast for summer, as it were.

It's the last day of the Labor Day Big Flea, so I'm heading out and looking for some bargains in the Antique Wing.  Plus comic books.  Plus whatever else I can find.

It has been ungodly hot here this past week.  Saturday was the worst.  Just awful.  It really killed the business at the sidewalk sale, unfortunately.  Even though the sidewalk outside the Peddlers Mall is covered, the shade doesn't really take effect until mid-afternoon.  It was a roasty, toasty morning.

The real problem was that no one wanted to linger outside and shop when they could go inside and shop in the air conditioned comfort.  And I did not blame them.

Still, fun was had.

C'est moi!

I did sell a lot of stuff.  When your top price is a buck, things do move pretty quickly for you.  I wanted stuff gone and it went, making every hot sweaty minute worth it!  Towards the end of the day, I corralled a shopping cart and dumped some stuff in it with a big FREE sign on it, and even more stuff left.

I'm going to take the leftovers, dump them in some large bags, and put a really good lot price on them and blow them out of the booth.  (Those plastic zipper things that linens and sheets come in are wonderful for this!)  A few of the larger things will get another mark down and then get shoved in a corner to fill space until they sell.

There's about a trash bag full of stuff that's headed to Goodwill as well.

The only thing that did not move at all was that damn glass.  I'm leaving it in a box, shoving it on a bottom shelf, and letting it sit until my yard sale at home.  Diggers will hunt through it, if they want.  Everyone else can ignore it on the bottom shelf as easily as they do when it's out in the open.

The sidewalk sale was part of a special event to raise funds for one of the cashiers who is going through chemo and can't work as much as she usually does right now.  There was a bake sale, raffle, and cook out, with all the proceeds going to her.  It was pretty awesome!  A pair of customers out of the blue made a fifty dollar donation!

Sales inside were really brisk this weekend.  Saturday, I had my best day ever at the mall and came within a couple dollars of my best one day total ever.  Friday was super too.  On both days, I sold a ton of those manga volumes.  A serious ton.  I gotta get my hands on some more of those.

I was actually worrying about September, because the first three days were way off.  Now, I'm way ahead, so we'll see what's going to happen.

I have all my Halloween out, right now.

The skulls are back and they're FESTIVE!

It's not quite blog worthy at the moment, so this is the only peek you get right now.  After a bit of tweaking, I'll do a full reveal.

Oh, all right.  One more little look.  Just because you've been good.

A bowl of HALLOWEEN CUTE!
I haven't sold a lot of it as yet (or the fall decor stuff), but it's starting to pick up.  I think it's hard for people to think acorns, scarecrows and pumpkins when it's so freaking hot.

I'm still doing really well on the steroids.  I did learn last week that I really should still take treatment day and the day after to rest.  I wasn't overly tired, but I did move much more slowly than I had been doing.  I'll be keeping that in mind.

This week, I'm planning on taking a few days to totally chill.  I need to spend a couple of days at the booth to put it back together after the sale, but I'm taking the next 3-4 days after that off.  Since starting on the steroids, I've finally been able to get to some things that needed to be done, so I can take some time to do nothing and not feel so badly about it.

Last week at the cancer center, they added something new to the free snacks.

LORNA DOONES!
I love me some Lorna Doones!

Like I said before, the doctor thinks I am looking much better, so we're both happy.  It's time for another scan, which I'll get next week.  We'll go over the results at my next clinic visit, the week after.

Due to the sidewalk sale, I didn't go to any yard sales, but I did shop a couple of the other sellers and picked a few things up.  I'll do a post on them (plus any Big Flea finds) later on.  Late last week, I found a bunch of Libbey jar style drinking glasses in various colors on clearance.

I know these are supposed to evoke images of drinking iced tea and lemonade on the back deck on summer nights, but I look at that red and green and think "Egg Nog!"  The red and blue also make me think about the Wildcats and the Cardinals, as college football gets started.  These will be in the booth this week.

This coming Saturday is the community sale for our neighborhood.  Everyone sets up on an empty lot, and there are always lots of good finds.

It's time to get the granny cart out of the shed and start my Big Flea warm ups.  If you don't stretch and properly prepare, you could hurt yourself, you know.  Junking ain't for sissies!

Let's close out this ramble with a picture of a blue-eyed ape riding a tiger!

Seriously
Well, why not?

Monday Rambles

I am currently typing with Chiquito on my lap in between me and the keyboard.  Any mistakes are his fault.  He has decided that any time I sit down at the computer, it's lap time.  He's become clingier since Kosh died, especially with me.  I'm not sure he likes being the only cat.

I've got tons to babble about this week, so let's get to it.  First, a couple of birthday deets (I'm not too old to say that, am I?) that I left out and some folks asked about.  Yes, they did sing to me in the cancer center.  I had one of the best nurses in  the clinic and she has a wonderful sense of humor, so we hit it off splendidly.  We totally made it to my birthday dinner as well. I was bound and determined to do that.  I even managed to work in some Halloween clearance shopping.  (More on that in a bit.)

Before we go any further, I have to thank you all again for all the kind notes and support.  I have been getting tons of sweet comments, and they have made me feel so much better!  I appreciate them so much.  A lot of them have come from first time commenters, which is cool.  I had no idea I had that many readers.  I never pay attention to that kind of stuff.  It also amazes me that so many of you seem to "get" me, contrary snark and all.

Special thanks go to Lorraine at Clamco, who mentioned me in her blog and sent lots of readers over here with nice words of support.  Thanks, Lorraine!  I've never been very good at answering comments.  Reality is, I'm just a bad blogger.  I have been trying to get to everyone who has commented lately with a note, but it's taking me a while.  Some of you all have been so nice that it seems like just saying "thank you" isn't enough.  A couple of you have even made me cry a little.  I'm having a hard time finding words, but I will get to everyone by the end of the week.

Since we're dancing around the topic, let's dive right in.  I'm trying to push the cancer talk further down into this post, because I don't want it to seem like this blog is becoming all about my cancer.  I still need to talk about junk and post silly videos and such, you know?

I had a PET scan last Thursday and an MRI on Saturday.  I made sure to schedule the MRI early enough to allow time for what few sales there were.  A lad has to have priorities, you know.  The PET scan took SIX HOURS!  I was supposed to be there at 11:30.  I ran out of things to do that morning, so I actually got there at 10:30, prepared to wait.  They took me back right away because they were slow.  The machine had been down on the morning, and they had to reschedule several folks.  By the time it was up and running, I was there and they were bored, so in I go.

I'm thinking:  "Great.  I'll be out of here early."  Then, the vein ordeal began.  In a PET scan, they inject you with a radioactive isotope that has to go into a vein, which means an IV.  And I ain't got no veins, as we all know.  I even warned them about it ahead of time.  Five sticks later, including two bruising ones on both hands and a huge knot on my left forearm, they decided I was right.

There apparently are a couple of very deceptive-looking veins on the backs of my hands.  They look nice and juicy, but they blow out as soon as they're stuck.  They ended up sending for someone called "IV Therapy" who took FOREVER to arrive.  She came in with an ultrasound machine and went all the way up to my right bicep, where she got in first try.  My new hero!

It takes an hour for all that stuff to work through--and, mind you, I have not eaten anything all day due to this thing and it is now well after one.  The scan finally goes off well, or so it seems.  Keith and I head to a very late (3:30) lunch so I can head to work.  Right as we are entering the restaurant, I get a call from the PET scan people.  (Damn cell phones!  Nothing but trouble!)  They need me to come back and redo part of the scan.

It seems that the vein with the IV infiltrated, which means it leaked (sort of).  The isotope all settled in my right arm.  Sadly, this did not grant me the power to shoot white hit bolts of radioactive plasma from that arm, like it would have if this were a bad Marvel comic instead of just my ridiculous life.  I am disappointed in this, as I was making plans to don a costume and become the masked avenger known as....Radioactive Rightie!  Fortunately, however, it also did not make my right arm fall off in the middle of the night, for which I am thankful.  I am rather attached to it after all.  I take it with me wherever I go.

For the MRI (why do I always have to do everything with contrast?), the guy would not even try my veins.  He decided to go right to the "experts."  In this case, that meant an ER nurse, who was very good.  He even got one of the cranky veins on the back of one hand to cooperate.  He explained to me that with more fragile veins, you have to use less pressure with the tourniquet.  He just barely tied that thing on.  He said it increases the pressure on the vein, making it blow out.  Apparently, he was right.  He's the first one in ages to get it to work there.

I should get the results tomorrow.  And throw my hissy fit for a port.  I've already warned Keith that I am ready to play hardball if it comes to it.  I'll also pick up all the stuff for the belly shots.  Yes, I got approved for the clinical trial!  Belly shots for everyone, Barkeep!  BLAM!

To totally change topics, Loretta Lynn was fabulous on Friday night!  She had on this fabulous sequined gown that she said was her first new one in ages.  Her sister makes them for her.  I told Keith afterwards that it felt like the kind of set show that you would see at Branson or some place like that.  They've got it polished and worked out to the last little details.  There were even a few hints of those old traveling country shows from the 40's and 50's and a little bit of the original Grand Ole Opry thrown in.  You could tell it was the product of decades of work.

She did everything you would have expected her to do, which was awesome.  As much as I love those songs, it was a thrill to see them live.  She also held forth on various topics, as she is prone to do.  Loretta's always been a bit opinionated.  It certainly added a lot of humor and authenticity to the show, but let's just say that she and I totally agree about the state of country music these days and totally disagree about politics.

By the way, she's going to be releasing her first all new album of new material in over a decade next year.  I am looking forward to that!

Junk pickings were kind of slim this weekend.  It is getting progressively cooler around here, and the sales are getting progressively fewer.  The season is at an end.  Sigh!  (Maybe now I can get caught up on posting my finds!  Or not.)  There were two good church sales, including one that stays on my must do list.  I managed to pick up a few things.

We also hit one of the other Peddlers Malls, since we happened to be in the area.  It's got this great booth full of vintage oddities where nearly everything is $1.99 and under.  Filled my cart, I did.  When we went in, there was a Free Box sitting by the counter.  I've never seen one in a P-Mall before.  I made a note to check it out before I left, but forgot because I was having such a good time laughing with the cashier when I checked out.  As usual, Keith finished before I did and went to wait in Mazda.  When I opened the back to put my stuff in, there was the whole Free Box!  Gotta love that man.  We're a little over a month and a half to the wedding, and I will be well enough for that.  No two ways about it.

Halloween clearance shopping was a little iffy this year.  No one was following their usual patterns.  Walgreens was at 75% off by the fourth.  For the past couple of years, they've not gone above 50%.  I've been about ready to write them off.  Target went to 70% earlier than usual too and seemed to clear out quickly.  I'm bummed about that, since Target always has the best stuff.  I totally missed out on Wal-Mart and Meijer.  Fortunately, K-Mart stayed true to their pattern of holding out a little longer than everyone else.

Who's got skulls?  I got skulls!
I ended up having one of those conversations only junkers can have with the cashier as I was checking out.

CASHIER:  Are these all the same skull?  (Definitely not a senten\ce she ever expected to utter.)

ME:  Why, yes.  Yes, they are.

I think I did pretty well overall.  I need about 5-6 tubs of new stuff to have a successful year next year.  I pretty much have that now.  I don't have much left over from this year, which is good.  It's pretty much wrapped up, but I am going to try and hit a Big Lots, since they also tend to hold out longer than others.  besides, it'll be a good excuse to thrift, since there is a store right there beside them.

I left all my ghoulish goodies in the van and priced and tubbed them up right in back of the house.  We really don't need anything else coming in here that's not going to stay a while.  They went right from the van to the storage shed.  While was working I had a thought about what interesting conversations i have at work, thanks to junking.

"What did you do this weekend, Eddie?"

"Priced skulls."

No wonder people look at me strangely.

Gosh, but I sure do love junking!

By the way, if you ever go into this stocking up for next year thing, there's one thing to remember:  Dust is your enemy.  No matter how/where you store things, they're going to be sitting basically undisturbed for a year.  Dust will accumulate anywhere in that time.

Pack it all in containers that have tight fitting lids, preferably not cardboard boxes.  Wrap everything, even things that are not breakable.  (This will also protect items made of metal, wood, or plastic from getting scratched when you move the containers.)  If you have plush or fabric items, put them in a plastic grocery bag and tie it tightly closed before putting them in the container.  This will keep them clean if the lid comes loose or dust works its way in.

Price everything as you pack it.  It will be too hard/time-consuming in a year to remember/look up what you paid.  Label the outside of the container and try to store them all together, so you can find them easily next year.

I'll let you know what I find out about the scans and the port tomorrow.  I'm pretty excited for this week.  My brother is coming up for a visit at the end of the week.  I'm having a small late birthday dinner at my favorite Mexican restaurant on Saturday.  My uncle and a few of my cousins are coming, too.  It should be fun!

Happy Retro-Halloween!

And what is more Retro Halloween than Shaun Cassidy singing "That's Rock and Roll" to a room full of monsters?

Enjoy!

Halloweening!

Well, phase one of the Halloween merch is out!

I've held back some of the smaller items to feed into the booth as other stuff sells.  By the end of the month, it will all be out.

I decided to leave those Christmas dishes out in the middle of everything, just to be a little subversive.  I'll start working more Christmas in the booth around mid-October, so the transition from Halloween to Christmas will go a little more smoothly.

I do all my Halloween shopping during the clearance sales the previous year, so I get a good selection of good stuff at a good price.  I supplement this with some yard sale purchases, but I'm really selective about those.  I love doing the post-Halloween shopping.  Halloween stuff is so much fun!

In the end, I usually get a good sell through.  We'll see what happens this year.

Muppet Monsters:  So cute and so wrong all at once!

Boothing It

It's been so long since I've done a booth update post, mainly because I felt the booths were too out of control to show.  Now that things are looking a little better, I took some pics.

I'll warn you in advance that they're just crappy cell phone pics, since that is all I seem to have time for any more.  The harsh florescent lighting there isn't doing me any favors either.  I did some cropping to help give the pics a focal point, but I don't know how much it helped.  I have no walls defining my rather large space, so it's hard to keep background objects in other booths from becoming a distraction.  Also, I pretty much have stuff crammed into every nook and cranny.  Styling and displays are so not my thing.

For the record, I have two 8x10 and two 8x11 floor spaces combined into one large fourplex that I sometimes call "Ed-Mart."  The official name of my booth is "Eddie's Attic."  I also have three wall spaces beside my fourplex and another wall space that is in front of my storage room at the mall.  I forgot to get pics of two of the wall spaces.

My vibe is kind of eclectic.  I feature everything from the kind of practical to the slightly whimsical.  My goal is to never be too stuffy and to never, ever look like my stuff came right out of my living room, even though some of it has.  I'm not exclusively vintage or exclusively anything, except maybe exclusively Eddie.  Someone once asked about my booth and I told them to think of bongo drums.  If you get that,  you'd love my space.  Plus, Scooby Doo totally rocks!

I'm more enamored with the idea of the overstuffed little junk shop run by the slightly wacky neighborhood eccentric old dude than I am the overly foofed antique store.  My booth totally reflects that.  I do leave people plenty of room to safely walk around, though.  I truly believe that if you can walk through my space and not come out with something you have to have, then you're just not trying hard enough.

Onto the booth:

Looking in from one side.  There are four main entrances into the fourplex.  This stuff is in the center of the space.

An overview of my religion wall.  It started as a single shelf five years ago and grew to this.  For a while, it took up one of the wall spaces.  I started referring to it as "St. Attica" during that time, but I don't use that name now that I've incorporated it into the fourplex.  I moved it when I had given up the wall space temporarily.  When I took the wall back, I decided to use it for something else.

The religion section really is a destination for several shoppers.  I have a lot of regulars buying from it.

The orange things in the lower right are priest's stoles.

The comic book/graphic novel/manga section is another popular spot.  It's a struggle to keep it neat and stocked.  There are other people selling comics in the mall, but I am the only one who has ever been a reader/collector, so I think my selection is better.  I know my prices are.

Media and games shelf

The start of my seasonal displays.  Right now, it's Fall/Harvest themed, but soon it will be mainly Halloween and will take over three tables and several shelves on the inside.  I sell a LOT of Halloween.  I don't do as well with the harvest stuff, so I don't do much of it, but I do like to have some.

Two of my wall spaces.  This is my section for vintage and primitive stuff, or--as I like to call it--classics and rustics.

My ode to alcoholism.  Beer and liquor advertising and related items sell pretty well for me.  When I have a whole lot of them, I make a section for them and let it sell down some.  I haven't had a bar section for a couple of years, so I thought it was time to pull another one together.  When it thins out, I'll scatter the remainder among the other merch in smaller groupings.

I call this shelf "Remembering Grandma's Kitchen."  Well, except for the Kiwi shoeshine box in the lower right.  Grandma never had one of those in her kitchen.

I just bought that white inset shelf the other day and knew it would look good among the other "rustics."  I had to take down one of the shelves that was on the wall to put it in.  I had never thought of doing that before.  I bought those shelves as they were (on the wall) when I first rented that space.  Now I am pondering other arrangements for them.

I think this one shelf pretty much sums me up as a reseller in one picture.  If you get it, then you get me.

Food fun!  Various promo items and toys related to food and cooking.  Plus, a big basket full of cookie cutters!

My Asian shelf

Quiet study area

I've had this 8 foot section of pegboard wall forever.  I bought it back when I only had one booth.  It just doesn't work in my space any more, and I have been trying to get rid of it without much success.  Right now, it sits on an aisle and I use it as my "storefront."  I rotate displays in and out of it like a store window.

Enamel top table + terracotta churches = DOUBLE AWESOMENESS!!

My vintage/classic toy section.  It looks sparse here, but for some reason I took the pic before I was finished restocking it.  It's full now.  My old friend Fisher-Price is very good to me.

Back to where we started, but on the other side.  Those drawers hold school supplies and office stuff.  I did have them out more prominently during back to school time.  Eventually, they'll end up under a table.  I know a lot of folks don't like bins of things, but I do.  It's a little extra work keeping them orderly, but it's also a good way to sell smaller things.  At least, I think so.

And that's the tour!  Hope you enjoyed it!  Come back soon and bring money when you do!
