There's really only one way to go this weekend:
After all, it is Wonder Woman Day! This is, of course, due to the much-anticipated, long-awaited movie release. It's finally here.
Since it's also junk set out weekend, I won't be going for a few days, but I am looking forward to it.
BONUS: The episode these credits were lifted from guest-starred Anne Francis!

Monday Rambles
ALL HEED THE WISDOM!
That actually explains a lot....
Here lately, this is definitely a necessity.
WEATHER REPORT
So we've gone through a week of freezing temps and snow and are getting ready to go into a week that is supposed to peak at around 70 later on. Sigh. Welcome to the Ohio Valley. Still the warmer weather will give me a chance to do some stuff outside, which is nice.
We've already started making our junk pile for the Feb. set out by the back fence and it's getting a little untidy. I would like to straighten it up a bit. Some of the neighbors have already started throwing things on the curb, even though it's early. We're a bunch of rebels in my 'hood, for sure. I need a nice day to get out and scavenge.
I'd also like to spend an afternoon at storage making a load of furniture for the booth. I'm starting to see I've got a good deal of room for some more big stuff.
SPEAKING OF THE BOOTH
I'm just about finished re-stocking. Sales have been consistent, despite the weather. I have heard that tat returns will be delayed this year until the end of February, which is worrying. I really need that sales boost. At least that gives me more time to prepare.
Today, I have to try and work another bookshelf into the book booth. I think I have figured out how to do it. Keith is getting ready to thin his books and has warned me to get ready for them.
I'm on a crusade right now to get the back log out of my house. We want to swap out my junk room and the bedroom, as the junk room has more closet space. The bedroom will be turned into a workroom/office.
Every morning before I go the mall and every evening after I get home, I try to get together a box or two of stuff, which goes to the booth the next day. I'd rather be figuring out how and where to place it there, where it can make some money, than here, where it is just in the way.
AND NOW A WORD FROM MY MOTHER
I've also been going through old boxes of stuff to see if there's anything that I can sell, donate, or otherwise get rid of. There's just too much crap around here. In the course of doing that, I found a folder of jokes and clipping and stuff that my mother used to stick in with her letters (remember those?) when I was in college. I have a briefcase full of those letters too.
Among them all was this gem, which she sent me while I was in seminary. I promptly taped it to the door of my dorm room.
If you think that my sense of humor is crazy, you should have known my mother. She was a nut!
JUST CALL ME DOPEY
I forgot to tell you all that I'm on Ritalin now to try and deal with my treatment-related fatigue. Apparently my fat, old, tired ass has a lot in common with a sixth-grader who can't sit still. It actually does help a lot, without the side effects I was having with the steroids. It's not the same kind of manic energy boost, but more of a controlled, sustaining effect. I do need to take more than one to keep going through the day. If I miss my afternoon dose, I sure start feeling it!
DVD OF THE WEEK
In three words: AMAZON SISTAHS HOLLA!
Sadly, there's no throwing wheel action here, but she kicks plenty of mythological ass! I highly recommend this one and am now super-psyched for the movie this year.

The Greatest Find EVER. EVER! EVER! DO YOU HEAR ME???? EVER!!!!!! AAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
It is no secret by now that I am a HUGE Batman fan, I think. But over and above and beyond and before that I am a Wonder Woman fan.
So when I found this at a parking lot sale on Saturday, I took to skipping and singing and squealing all over the place, despite the heat.
She's missing her tiara, bracelets and boots, but I don't freaking care. Her arms and legs have been glued back on, most likely because the band holding them on gave way with age, but I don't care about that either. She's absolutely, totally, perfect to me.
She's seen a lot of action, my little Amazon princess. Most likely, it was fighting evil gods and monsters, overthrowing dictators, and, of course, whaling the ever-loving shit out of her enemies with her Throwing Wheel.
According to the Wonder Woman collector site, this doll was produced in conjunction with the 70's TV show, but I have some questions about that.
For one thing, I am pretty sure I remember seeing these dolls advertised a few years before the show aired. For another, this part of a set that included Nubia, a character from the comics in the early 70's, who never appeared on the show. Finally, even on the WW collector site, they show a picture of this doll in the box WITHOUT the Lynda Carter image.
Personally, I think these were produced pre-TV show and, later on, a new box was produced with the Lynda Carter graphic to tie in with the show.
One of the things I love most about my Wonder Woman is her painted on top. A later version had a cloth top. Also, her blue eye shadow.
Speaking of the WW collector page, I was tickled to see some other things on there that I also have, like this mirror, and this beach towel, which I have had since I was in 7th or 8th grade. There's also this invisible plane toy, which I had when I was a kid, but don't own any longer, sadly. Also in the "former possessions" category is this album. I remember that the bullets bouncing off her bracelets were recorded as this odd tinkling sound.
And before you say anything, Shara. Yes, she is a doll. But she's NOT creepy. Wonder Woman is NEVER creepy. Only fabulous. ALWAYS fabulous.
PS Dig those eyelashes. They are so stiff that her hair gets stuck in them. Awesome.
All together now:

Monday Rambles
This is the view out our front door.
This is the view out the back door.
I'm not totally sure I understand this. When exactly did we move to Michigan?
Part of the neighbor's tree fell off under the weight of the ice. It fell in our backyard. You can see part of it in the pic above. Thankfully, it missed the sheds and the house. It's kind of funny how tree bits look so much larger on the ground than they do when they are still on the tree.
Practically everything around is still covered in ice. It would be pretty if we didn't have to get out in it every day. I can deal with it as long as the temps stay in the double digits. It might not be what I desire to do or prefer to do, but I can deal with it. I'm still limiting my ventures outside to those things that have to be done. No fun side journeys these days.
I was supposed to be off this week due to budget cuts, but we saved so much money over the last two weeks with weather-related cancellations that now I'm supposed to be working. Supposed to be. But not today. I'm going to the booths instead. I hope that the weather cooperates the rest of the week and I can work. I need it.
I actually saw someone using the phone the other day! I thought about getting a pic, but there was really no way to discreetly do it. It would have made a great conclusion to the whole phone saga. You'll just have to imagine it for yourselves. Eddi-torial Comments: Where the oddball, throw-away joke never really ends.
After the concert last week, the venue sent us an email asking for our feedback. I replied with a glowing email. (Gee! Imagine that!) I got a reply shortly thereafter thanking me for my email. The email also shared that the unanimous opinion of all the venue staff was that Rodney and Emmylou were he "easiest" performers to work with. "No backstage egos at all."
Emmylou has long had a reputation as being very gracious and genuine. She is extremely well-regarded among her peers. Of course, it's one thing to be regarded by your peers and quite another to be praised by all the backstage folks who make the shoe possible! She's quite a lady!
The car got towed away Friday night. They're going to fix it instead of totaling it, which is a relief. What remains to be seen is what happens to our insurance.
Want to see something cute?
One of the best features is the packaging. Or rather, the artwork on the packaging. It's all done in that classic, awesome Dick Giordano style that was the model for so much DC merchandising for years. There are even temporary tattoos.
Did some junking Friday and Saturday. No sales happening, so I hit the shops instead. I'll share finds tomorrow. I will share these vintage-style Valentines they have at Barnes and Noble right now. I saw them while I was making my rounds. They're like six or eight dollars a box or something outrageous like that, given that there are only 8 to a package. I'll wait until next week and see if they go on clearance. I thought maybe a few folks might like them!
Why was I junking at Barnes and Noble? Some of you may know why by now. If you don't, I'll tell you later. (It's kind of a sad tale.) There is a hint in the paragraph before these last pics.
My what a random Monday Rambles! Speaking of Valentines, "Your Vintage Valentine of the Day" starts today! Limited engagement! Four days only! That's because Valentines Day is Friday (and because I only have four vintage Valentines to share). Look for a special Valentines post on Friday!

She's a flash drive! Keith got her for me for Xmas! I'd been waiting to use her until I had some junking related files I needed to back-up. She's my official junking drive. I love her! He told me that sometimes the perfect gifts are pretty obvious.

Blog Therapy #1
I'm writing this last Saturday in anticipation of a bad chemo reaction, which the signs from my April chemo seem to indicate. I'm finding that keeping the blog up while I'm doing this is really helping my mental state, so I'm doing a bit of stockpiling.
While I was doing the "Things I Like" post, I ran across a couple of pics that I saved to use for another day. Here's the first:
Wonder Woman #1 from Summer, 1942. I wasn't around when this baby was first published, but I had an oversized reprint edition from the 1970's. I remember taking it with me on one of our family car trips from Texas (where my dad was stationed) to Kentucky to visit my grandparents. I think I read the thing dozens of times on that trip. My brother and I each had a paper grocery bag in the backseat. Mom told us to put whatever we wanted to take on the trip for purposes of trip entertainment in the bag. I don't recall what else was in my bag, but I remember Wonder Woman.
I think it may have been this comic that cemented my lifelong love of the character.

Things I Like!
Since I'm having chemo today, I thought it might be a good idea to do a post with a happier theme. Sometimes, being reminded of the good stuff in life can take your mind off the not-so-good. It was pointed out to me several months ago by a certain person that they had no idea I liked nuns, since I had never put that in my blog. Aiming to rectify that oversight, I now present a list of things that I like. Don't expect a lot of explanation here, although I might do a more detailed post on a few of these in the future. Please note that this is not an exhaustive list. I might also do a sequel or two at some time.
I was kind of a bad blogger and did not keep track of where I borrowed the pics from. I hope that doesn't get anyone's nose too much out of joint.
I guess I'll start off with the point of contention:
You would not believe how long it took me to find that pic. The original file has been lost in computer switches and shuffles. I had to page through almost four years of blog posts to find where I had used it! That's a lot of posts, even for someone like me who doesn't always post very regularly.
Still, it was so worth it. I love that shot! And that man!
And that's probably enough for this go around.

Happy Valentine's Day!
Great pic, huh? That was one of my favorite comics when I was a kid. And one of the ones that survived my great comic purge of a few years back. Just loved it.
I got the pic from here, where you can also read a great synopsis of the story, complete with more images.
Check it out and enjoy!
I'm off for dinner with Keith tonight. My treat even!
I figure he deserves it for putting up with me all these years.
